God is with us when we have cancer.

On May 22nd, a small group of believers met at the Life Bridge Cafe to discuss how our faith and cancer has impacted our lives.  We shared scripture and divided into groups -- those of us who have or have had cancer, and those of us who care for someone who has or has had cancer.   Confidentiality is promised and expected in return.

Cancer is a disease that isolates us from others.  Our friends often silently drift away because they want to fix our problem and feel awkward because they know they can't.  It is easy to feel overwhelmed by our disease and, ironically, we can't share how we feel with those we are closest to because they are overwhelmed, as well.

When cancer patients meet together and when caregivers meet together, they are able to share with each other their common experiences and emotions.  It helps us to feel better when we learn that others have been where we are and were able to deal with the same thing.

Paul said, "Bear one another's burdens and in that way, fulfill the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2).  That's what we hope to do in the Cancer Groups.

Seeing God in Wrong Numbers and Emails! Whoda Thunk?

This collection of posts is about sharing God sightings and helping others see God at work in us and through us.

These are relatively silly sightings, but they served as a great encouragement to me.  They remain in my mind and prayer as I continue looking for God to do it again.

Crazy Changes

The past few months have challenged us as we walked through "Crazy Love."  Chan has challenged us through God's Word to stretch far beyond what we considered "normal" Christian living.  In fact, we've learned to see "normal" as "lukewarm" and learned to see "crazy" as the new normal.  The changes is starting to show.

The 79cent Bible

Finding the Need was the topic for our past Ministry Monday gathering.  MM's is a time to share how God is leading us in Ministry.  Lead by Jeni and Anna, scripture and discussion is shared from 6:30-8pm in the LBCC cafe.  We have activities and coordinate ministries that are happening now and in the near future.  

When discussing Finding the Need on the 29th we were trying to figure out where and who God wants us to serve in ministry.  4 questions were asked& discussed... 
1. Where is your heart?  
    Psalm 37:4  Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
2. Where is the need?  
    Philippians 2:4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
3. What gifts/talents has God gifted you?  
    1 Peter 4:10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace:
4. What skills/talents have you learned or acquired in your life?
    1 Timothy 4:6-16 - A Good Servant of Christ Jesus

God has a plan for you and your life.  Follow Him and He will lead.  
We are all called to do something different because the answers to the questions above are different.   I want to share a story with you about what my friend Cindy was called to do.  

We're Going Crazy

The past eight weeks Life Bridge has embarked on a journey through Crazy Love, a book by Francis Chan. (We've even been ordering the "slightly imperfect" books because they seem to fit us.)

The journey has been amazing.

I've had the pleasure of watching this part of His Body change over the past couple months.  They're "going crazy."

10,000 Foot View

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go up this mountain in the Abarim Range and see the land I have given the Israelites. (Numbers 27:12 NIV)

Much of Moses' day would be spent listening to individual cases, giving individual direction, and working through the details of teaching people to walk together with God.  Every once in awhile, though, the LORD would take Moses up on a mountain to talk with him or to do something like showing him the promised land.  Moses got to spend some time alone with God at 10,000 feet above sea level to look at the "big picture."

Most of ministry is done in a day-to-day, moment-by-moment way.  To be sure, there are schedules and plans and calendars just like any other calling, but, just like any other calling, life is filled with "surprises" and "interruptions."  I put those words in quotes because God is never surprised and Godcidences are never interruptions.  Every so often, though, I get the opportunity to "back up" and see more of the big picture.  This was one of those weeks.

10th Anniversary

I t never ceases to amaze me how fast time goes by.  This September will be 10 years of LifeBridge Christian Church! This will be a time of celebration and community outreach for all of the church body.

On Saturday April 6 @ 3pm there will be a meeting in the Cafe area to plan the celebration and festivities. This meeting is open to any and all who would like to be involved, just  bring your ideas and creativity this Saturday!
