God Worked Through Our Students to Bless Families!

Game Time - Valentine Heart Relay
Parent Date Night this past Friday, February 15th, was a huge success!

God worked through our students to bless families and were themselves blessed in return!  Read on to hear a little of what God was up to at Life Bridge last Friday!

We had 24 children come out for our evening of food and fun.  Ten of them were from families outside of Life Bridge.

Nine students from our Encounter Student Ministries served food, served as large group game leaders, group leaders for teams, craft leaders, assistants, and simply loved on the kids.

What did I see God do?

  • I saw Him work through Melody Dudley and Cathy Mann to initiate this idea and to plan games and crafts for the evening.
  • I saw kids feeling valued and loved as the teens played board games with small clusters of kids throughout the cafe.
  • I heard of couples taking dance lessons, spending time with another couple for dinner, movie time at home, and even enjoying uninterrupted conversation in their own home.

Sunday evening at Encounter, I shared with the students who served that our mission with student ministry is for students to Encounter God in their Walk with Him, in their Service, and in their Relationships.  Part of what I was excited about is that I believe that the students experienced God working through them.  I pointed out to them that through their service, marriages were built up... and enabling parents to spend time together strengthens families.  I helped them to see that as they played games with the kids that they were sharing God's love with them... showing the kids that they were valued and loved... not just by adults, but by teens, and God too!  I also helped them to see that in being willing to show up, serve, and even go outside their comfort zones at times, they put themselves in a place to be used by God for His bigger purposes.

Upon kid pickup, I heard many remarks:
"Can we come back to this church?" - kid to parent"Do you do stuff like this often?" - Parent"Can we come back next Friday?" - kid to me"I can't remember the last time we got to go out alone." - Parent"This was wonderful... It's hard to get someone to watch 5 kids!" - Parents
God was honored and worked in wonderful ways.  Keep your eyes open for other events as they come up.  If you want to be involved in planning/brainstorming such events, join us for Ministry Mondays at 6:30 to jump in!
