It’s Turkey Time!

It’s that time of year again where 500 Turkeys is in full swing!  There are many opportunities to participate in a variety of ways. 

Those coming up are:

• Saturday, November 4th Gobble Up Hunger Food Drive in Valpo
• Saturday, November 4th Food Drop Off at Valpo Naz
• and much more to come with clothing and packing nights!…

500 Turkey Collection BY NOVEMBER 4TH

Life Bridge is collecting the following for 500 Turkeys:

• 200 boxes of Cornbread Mix
• 200 boxes of ziploc sandwich bags (any count and brand)

Donations can be dropped off at Life Bridge at the Ministry Counter.

The donations will be collected by Saturday, November 4th.

Celebrating God’s Work Through Life Bridge and 500 Turkeys

Thanks to all who contributed stuffing, Cornbread, money, and time! 1300 meals were distributed as an expression of God’s love and provision.  The blessings are far broader than those 1300 families… it includes each person who contributed in any of the myriad of ways. 

May you recognize God’s provision in your life… physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Winter Gear Drive Ends THIS WEEKEND!

Life Bridge is collecting coats, hats, gloves, and scarves to be distributed through 500 Turkeys to those in need.

Sign up to participate at the doors or on the truck by simply click here. Invite family or friends to join you! This event is great for everyone, including elementary age kids with their parents!

Ways to Participate:

Door Volunteer- Standing outside offering a flier to incoming customers. Saying something like, "HI. Would you like to help us help the hungry?" or "HI. We are collecting food for local food pantries and the food bank if you would like to help by purchasing one or more items on the list." or even "HI. Its as easy as 1, 2, 3. You can place your donation in the cart on your way out. We will do the rest."

Truck- Volunteer on the truck sorting & organizing donations. Unloading carts onto the truck and keeping the parking lot and surrounding area clean. (Must be able to bend, lift and climb)

Water Bottles- Donation - 1 case of Bottled Water for volunteers. Thanks!

Turkeypalooza benefits 500 Turkeys, which is striving to feed 800 families this Thanksgiving.  Don't forget to sign up for the Gobble Wobble -- the 5k run and fun walk beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Sign up by June 27th to ensure you receive a t-shirt.

As part of Turkeypalooza, there will be a 5k run and fun walk this year.  The run begins at 5:00 p.m. and the walk begins at 5:15 p.m. You can register for the race online.  If you register by June 28th, you'll receive a discount and a t-shirt.

God Sighting

The main point of this blog is to communicate what we see God doing.  So last night after a long month of 500 Turkeys, Thanksgiving, and beginning Children Christmas practice, I had a movie and game night for students at Life Bridge.  I know that I had been feeling overwhelmed with activity and thought maybe they were feeling the same, so we just had some down time together.  But God was there... and active!

A Day to Pray

At various times throughout the year, we like to remind ourselves of the importance and power of prayer.  We know that when we spend time in prayer, we invite God to act.  This weekend, we will be inviting God to act once again.

A "Pray Where You Are" prayer vigil will be taking place on from Friday at 10 a.m. until Saturday at 2 p.m. For more than a day, we will be asking God to work in our lives and the lives we will be touching this week.  We will be asking Him for:

I'm walking around a fairly empty building after all the activity the last two evenings.  The energy can still be felt here...

500 Turkeys Drop-Off Day & More

Tomorrow, Saturday, November 3rd from 2-6pm is 500 Turkeys Drop-Off!

Food and Clothing have been being collected from all over Porter County and this Saturday, it all comes to Life Bridge!  Can goods and food items will be organized and prepared for our boxing nights on Tuesday November 13th and Wednesday November 14th from 6-8pm.
