A Time of Heal... A Time to Mourn

Many have been going through loss and health issues with loved ones.  While these are difficult times, God is at work providing care and comfort through His body.  For those of us who believe God Himself is our comfort in times of need, never leaving us.

Our prayers go up for families dealing with the loss of loved ones.  We pray for safe travel as they gather to mourn and provide comfort for one another.  We also lift up those who are struggling with health issues - from the flu to heart surgeries to kidney and heart failure.  Lord, we pray for Your healing and Your guidance.  We praise You that we can trust our loved ones into Your care, knowing that You know what's best.  We praise You that when we mourn it is not as those without hope.  All praise to our Lord, and our Savior.

If you wish to join us in supporting the family of Jeni Bolton and Billy and Becky Wilkie in the loss of their father, Richard Shaughnessy, the memorial service will be held at Life Bridge Christian Church (1705 Laporte Ave, Valparaiso, IN 46383) on Saturday, January 31st at 11am.  A luncheon will follow the service.

Richard Shaughnessy Obituary

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. (Romans 12:12-15 NIV)

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NIV)
