Ceiling Tiles

So I walked into the building this week and found stacks and stacks of ceiling tiles.  “Where did they come from?” I wondered.  It didn’t take long before I found out the answer.

It’s seems like I have spent a lot of time talking about ceilings since the beginning of Life Bridge.  Back in the old basement location, we used to say we had the “best ceiling ever.”  In reality, we had a garage ceiling that we painted black so you couldn’t see all the problems up there. Winking smile

Now, we have a restaurant/cafe/coffeehouse atmosphere.  The ceiling in the cafe area is painted black to help us remember the “best ceiling ever,” but this one is much cleaner and easier to maintain.  The children’s ministry area downstairs has a nice, new drop-ceiling that really spruced up the place when it was installed last year.  Now, again, we get to talk about ceiling tiles.

As the story goes, there was a contractor who ordered ceiling tiles for his job and the company made an error.  They sent a double-order to the contractor.  The contractor tried to send back the extra tiles, but the manufacturer said it would cost too much and not be worth the money.  “Go ahead and keep them,” he was told.  So, he did.

This contractor didn’t need the tiles, so he asked a friend, who also works in the construction and maintenance business, if he could use the ceiling tiles.  “Sure, I can find a use for them,” he said.  So they transferred the tiles to this friend who, as it turns out, is a member of the Church Body at Life Bridge.  He and his co-worker (also a Life Bridge member), brought the tiles to us and dropped them off.  God gave us ceiling tiles!

This may seem like a lot of discussion about ceilings and ceiling tiles, but this is really another God-sighting: a story about how God works in and through His people.  New ceiling tiles will help the worship area look cleaner and nicer.  It will help the heating and air conditioning system work more efficiently and effectively.  Ultimately, it will help us empower one more to walk together with God.

Oh, yeah, one last thing.  We counted the number of boxes and then walked around the worship center counting the tiles.  It’s a perfect fit.  Go team.  Praise God!
