New Family Tuesdays!

New Family Tuesdays?  What's that?

I'm glad you asked!  The more I prepare for this the more excited I get!  New Family Tuesdays begin this Tuesday (do you remember Tuesday yet?) March 5 6:30-8:30pm.

We are calling it New Family because that is exactly what we are!  It is not necessarily the nuclear families we live in, but it is God's Family... a family that we all have a choice in being a part of.

There is so much that feels right about this...

  • Family Meal - This is supposed to be a significant time for all families... a time of sharing about your days, catching up, encouraging one another, all over the breaking of bread.  So that is exactly what we are going to do.  We will begin at 6:30 with a potluck dinner.  We love when people share their giftedness of cooking... or even just grocery shopping!  Short on money or time... no big deal!  God always provides plenty through His Family!
  • Study Time - After dinner, we will have a time of going deeper into God's Word, applying it to our lives in age appropriate ways, and lifting one another up in prayer.  Adults will be led by Pete, Students by Traci and/or the Encounter Student Ministry team, and Children initially by Melody Dudley and Cathy Mann while we build up teams to serve in this area.

New Family Tuesdays are for everyone looking for a community environment to grow deeper in their walk with God and to grow deeper in those christian family relationships... with new brothers and sisters.  While the group is larger than most small group environments, discussion and prayer take place around a table of about 4 people.

New Family will also continue to empower parents as we stick with the same theme/topic throughout the age groups.  While weekend services empower parents with kids through elementary, New Family will further empower parents with student age kids as they share a common basis of study, yet applied to their particular contexts.

I'm excited to see what God is going to do through New Family!

They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. (Acts 2:42-47 NIV)
