We finished our church service last week with a reminder that God’s world is much bigger than we often remember:
That is why the city was called Babel, because that is where the LORD confused the people with different languages. In this way He scattered them all over the world. (Genesis 11:9 NLT)
God wanted the people to spread out and fill the earth. They tried to stay together and build a tower. God encouraged them to spread out by confusing their languages. Whenever I hear different languages, I’m reminded that God really did create a BIG earth and a HUGE universe for us to discover and enjoy. It’s good to get out and experience that for ourselves.
Porter County Fair gives us a chance to do just that. According to the latest suburban statistics, Porter County Indiana is the home to over 164,000 people. That’s about 1,000 times greater than our average weekly attendance at Life Bridge. Going to the Porter County Fair gets us outside and encountering other people – even from our own back yard.
This week, let’s remember that God is bigger than our comfort zone. God is bigger than our plans. God is bigger than our church building. God is bigger than our church family. God is just bigger. When we worship in the big tent this week, let’s remember that God is BIG at the Porter County Fair.
