Celebrating God's Work

As I am reflecting back on how God is working around Life Bridge, I am standing in awe of God's work through the Men's Shelter.

It has been a great six months of having the men stay with us.  Relationships have been built, trust has been gained, and God's love has been shared.

This past Thursday we had a Taco dinner for the men and many of us who have participated in the shelter one way or another.  About a dozen men came even though they would not be staying at Life Bridge that night, and about another dozen who have connected and created a welcoming environment.

I especially loved hearing several men say, "See you on Sunday!" or ask if they can still come by Life Bridge.

We will continue to pray for God's work in each of their lives, but as I spoke with one of the volunteers I was reminded of the importance of just showing up.  He said that there were nights when you just show up and do the job - check men in, take care of what they need, etc. - and then there were nights when conversations started up and they could go all night.

I was reminded that those nights of conversation would not have happened without the nights of just showing up.  I think it is safe to say that most of ministry is just showing up... sometimes it is doing ministry as usual, but then there are time where God takes things to a new level.  When we show up, God can do incredible things!

I love hearing people comment about what a great environment we have at Life Bridge.  They are not talking about the transforming Chinese restaurant, or the table and chairs.  They are referring to all of you who show up, accepting others where they are, and sharing God's love in very practical ways.

God is at work in each of us, and through each of us.  To God be the glory and honor forever!
