Last weekend we tried out a new set of video cabling to the monitor in the front of the worship center, the projector in the cafe, and to the video capture machine. This upgrade is one of a series of upgrades we are putting in place to increase the quality of the digital aspect of our services at Life Bridge.
What do all these changes tell me?
God is calling us to stay. God is calling us to grow. God is calling us to empower on more to walk together with God.
This past week, we examined peace as the fruit of God's Spirit. When Jesus was training his disciples for the job he had for them to do, he said this:
"When you enter a house, first say, 'Peace to this house.' If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. "When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, 'The kingdom of God has come near to you.' But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 'Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.' (Luke 10:5-11 NIV)
Traci and I moved our family to Valparaiso over twelve years ago now. There were many moments when we were wondering if God was calling us to shake the dust off our sandals and leave. We were not encountering people or situations of God's peace. Other times, however, God seemed to confirm for us that we were supposed to stay and continue bringing God's peace. We have been faithful to God's call.
Now, we see many more places where God's peace is resting on those who are in the body of Christ at Life Bridge. We see God at work in person after person. We see God working through person after person. We see God knitting us together as His Body, his Church. We see the God of peace bringing more and more peace.
Fire Alarms, to me, mean that we are pouring resources into staying where we are. Video cables that can transmit 1080p HD means that we are preparing to reach even more with God's peace. God is calling us to do both. As we do, God will bless our faithfulness and we will see God using us to empower on more to walk together with God.
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20 NIV)
