Prayer
Sometimes seeing God in
our lives can be difficult to discern, especially when we are having a tough
week or get bad news, but this week many millions worldwide saw a defeated man
make
a Godly decision. The presidential campaign finally ended this week with
Barak Obama winning a second term. A humbling experience for Mitt Romney (to
say the least), but as he conceded to his opponent he offered prayer for the
president and his family. Sometimes that is all we can do in a situation, just
pray. When we as humans get boxed in by our troubles, when we have no control
of our circumstances, when WE run out of options-God is there. Mr. Romney was
out of options and publicly gave it to God then seemed to take it a step
further by saying he and his wife would join us to earnestly pray for our nation.
In many nations around the
world an elected official would never be permitted to pray or speak of prayer
publicly. Scripture supports this with references like this;
What
other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the LORD our
God is near us whenever we pray to him?
Deuteronomy 4:6-8
Deuteronomy 4:6-8
Prayer changes things. Prayer turns
enemies into allies, even friends. It is difficult to harbor bad feelings
toward someone that you are earnestly praying for. Prayer brings hope. I hope
that you pray today, earnestly.
But I
tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
